The OEA-Retired election for Spring 2023 is being conducted by Election America. Online voting opens on March 1, 2023, and closes on March 30, 2023, at 5:00 p.m. EST.
Election notices will be mailed (and emailed, if on file) to OEA-Retired members with an individual Election Code and Voting PIN (you will need these to vote). For technical assistance with the voting process or to request a paper ballot, please contact Election-America at Help+OEAR@election-america.com or call (877) 466-7875. The Ohio NEA-R delegation to the NEA Representative Assembly on July 3 – 6, 2023 in Orlando, FL consists of seven delegate seats, the Chair, Mary Binegar, is a delegate by virtue of office. Cleveland International Film Festival – Join us for FilmSlam on Thursday, March 30! The FilmSlam screening begins at 9:30 a.m. (you’ll want to be in your seat by 9:00) and will include a choice of one film followed by a 15-20 minute filmmaker Q&A. You will have a choice to view a feature film, cultural cinema short films, Spanish language cinema short films, and French language short films. You will need to register for your film; we’ll have the details and registration link in February.
You will also receive two vouchers to attend screenings at the Cleveland International Film Festival later that day. Be sure to include your $20 registration fee (see Mary Alice at FilmSlam where you will receive your $20 back plus your vouchers for the entry to the Cleveland International Film Festival [CIFF 47]). OEA-R delegates will be elected during October by online and mail-in ballot. In October, look for election information by email and US mail. Please support candidates from NEOEA-R.
OEA-R members should look for an email and/or a postcard “Vote now in the OEA 2020 Elections” from “Ohio Education Association <help@yeselections.com>”. Everyone will get a postcard or an email with an explanation and instructions for requesting a paper ballot by October 15. The email and the postcard provide an “Election Code” and a “Voting PIN” along with a link to the voting page. Please vote online no later than 5:00 PM Friday, October 31, 2022. OEA-R members will elect 18 Delegates to the OEA Representative Assembly from a field of 29 candidates. The 18 OEA-Retired Advisory Council members are automatic delegates by virtue of office, for a delegation of 36 delegates and 11 alternates by order of votes.

Delegates attend both the Fall and Spring OEA Representative Assemblies. On the day before, the OEA-R Delegate Assembly meets at the OEA or STRS building to carry out the business of OEA Retired and for a briefing with the OEA officers and reports from the OEA-R Advisory Council. Delegates from NEOEA also attend the Fall and Spring NEOEA RAs.
The OEA Representative Assemblies will be December 3, 2022 and May 12-13, 2023 (revised dates.). The NEOEA Representative Assemblies will be November 12 at Lorain HS and April 22 at Mayfield HS.

OEA-Retired Advisory Council Runoff Election Results
The OEA-Retired Runoff Election for Spring 2022 was conducted by Election America. Online voting opened on April 23, 2022, and closed on May 23, 2022, at 5:00 p.m. With 1,777 votes cast (46 blanks/voids) 1009 were paper ballots and 768 electronic votes.

OEA Endorsed Candidates Lose Seats on STRS Board
Retirement Board Election Results:
On Saturday, May 7, 2022, the results of the State Teachers Retirement Board election were certified by a board of tellers appointed by the State Teachers Retirement Board and Election Services Company — the independent firm administering the election.
The results of the election for the two contributing member seats on the Retirement Board are as follows:
- Julie Sellers, 19,030 votes
- Steven Foreman, 15,247 votes
- Jeffrey Rhodes, 10,494 votes
- Robert A. McFee, 9,817 votes
- Write-Ins, 319 votes
- Total, 54907 votes
The results of the election for the retired member seat on the Retirement Board are as follows:
- Elizabeth Jones, 24,983 votes
- Rita J. Walters, 21,229 votes
- Write-Ins, 222 votes
The term of office for Steven Foreman, Elizabeth Jones and Julie Sellers will begin on Sept. 1, 2022, and will end on Aug. 31, 2026.
